It is a fact of life that virtually all of us will have lost a girlfriend or boyfriend due to a relationship breakup. I don't have to tell you how much it can hurt. Dealing with the hurt and pain in the right way though, can help us to minimize the time it takes to go away. What is the best way to mend a broken heart? read on to find out.
By far the fastest remedy is to see if you can repair your relationship. Often in the heat of the moment people can act too hastily. No matter if you were the dumper or dumpee, it could be worth finding out if you could get back together again. If you think that your ex could be the one, then you should do all you can to put right what went wrong. Why not simply apologies for any wrongs you did, and just ask them for another chance.
Unfortunately sometimes your broken relationship may be beyond saving. If this is the case you should put your efforts into just moving on with your life. The first step in mending your broken heart is to understand that you have to give yourself time to grieve for what you had. A breakup is very much like a bereavement, and you will naturally feel a deep sense of loss.
After this grieving process is over you have to give yourself closure, you must break all ties with your ex. Delete their number from your cell phone, settle any joint debts you have, sell your joint assets, and split the proceeds, plus close any joint bank accounts you may have. It is just as important to physically move on as well as mentally move on. The only case where this is not possible is if you have children together, in this case it is important to put their needs first.
Once you have broken the physical ties you should concentrate on the mental ones. Why not get away from it all, take that vacation you were promising yourself. There has never been a better time to reinvent yourself. Don't look on your future with fear look on it as an adventure, and grab it with both hands. The most important thing is to not climb into your shell and feel sorry for yourself.
After a breakup the best way to mend a broken heart is to get out there and live your life! Have fun, and avoid sinking into destructive emotions like self pity. Project a confident and happy persona to the world, even if you don't feel it right away. You never know your new soul mate could be out there waiting for you.
